Several services have been established to improve wellness and opportunity in the community, including:

  • In early 2019, the newly constructed William McDonald YMCA opened to the public. The 35,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility offers a community-accessible pool, large pre-school, dedicated youth space, wellness area, demonstration kitchen and full gymnasium with a walking track
  • Cook Children’s opened a community health clinic that provides quality pediatric and dental care
  • The Shoppes at Renaissance Square opened with over 500,000 square feet of retail, grocery, and dining

How will you improve educational opportunities for residents?

We are working to establish a rigorous and relevant curriculum to help ensure successful futures through college and beyond. Uplift Mighty was established in 2012 and is a free, public, college-preparatory charter school serving approximately 1,300 students in grades K-12. Leadership Academy at Mitchell Boulevard Elementary serves grades Pre-K – 5th.

What is being done to create housing opportunities in Renaissance Heights?

Phase I of Columbia at Renaissance offers affordable and workforce multi-family housing units for up to 140 families. Phase II of Columbia at Renaissance offers affordable senior apartments for residents 62 and older. When approved, Phase III of Columbia at Renaissance will provide additional housing for up to 140 more families. Plans for the southern sector include single family homes and townhomes.
